Afflicted, storm-tossed and not comforted…
There are all sorts of reasons why fiery trials derail our relationship with God and with others.
Intense suffering can leave us feeling isolated or misunderstood.
We can feel disconnected from the Lord who is our Rock and Refuge.
Yet suffering is often the first time in our lives when we notice the things we say and believe are really hard to live out. Our previous self-focussed ways of coping no longer work. We come face to face with the fact that we cannot control the future or other people's responses to us but will we trust God who does have all these things in his hands?
We begin to understand that we aren't built to manage alone. Through the lens of Scripture, we see that we can still be safe because we live every moment before the face of a kind and compassionate God who is more ready to hear our cries than we are to utter them.
If you are a pastor, working with a female church member, I would be happy to assist you with the work you are already doing.
